Angela Merkel is a [[Lutheran]] member of the [[Evangelical Church in Berlin, Brandenburg and Silesian Upper Lusatia]] ({{langx|de|link=no|Evangelische Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz – EKBO}}), a [[United and uniting churches|United]] [[Protestant]] (i.e. both [[Reformed tradition|Reformed]] and Lutheran) [[Landeskirche|church body]] under the umbrella of the [[Protestant Church in Germany]].
