===2010 census===
As of the [[census]] of 2010, there were 2,294 people, 1,034 households, and 632 families residing in the city. The [[population density]] was {{convert|984.5|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 1,212 housing units at an average density of {{convert|520.2|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 91.3% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.6% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.8% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.1% [[Race (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 2.9% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 3.4% from two or more races. There were 1,034 households, of which 27.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.7% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.1% had a male householder with no wife present, and 38.9% were non-families. 35.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.78.<ref name="wwwcensusgov"/>

The median age in the city was 43.9 years. 21.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23% were from 25 to 44; 28.3% were from 45 to 64; and 20.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 49.3% male and 50.7% female.<ref name="wwwcensusgov"/>

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,474 people, 1,037 households, and 695 families residing in the city. The population density was {{convert|1,582.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 1,220 housing units at an average density of {{convert|780.5|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the city was 91.47% White, 0.04% African American, 2.47% Native American, 0.93% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 3.07% other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.86% of the population.<ref name="wwwcensusgov"/>

There were 1,037 households, out of which 29.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.85.<ref name="wwwcensusgov"/>

In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.4% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males.<ref name="wwwcensusgov"/>

The median income for a household in the city was $30,960, and the median income for a family was $38,953. Males had a median income of $31,958 versus $22,198 for females.
