===Tsinghua clique=== {{Main|Tsinghua clique}} The term [[Tsinghua clique]] refers to a group of Chinese Communist Party politicians that have graduated from Tsinghua University. They are members of the [[fourth generation of Chinese leadership]], and are purported to hold reformist and hesitantly pro-democratic ideas (a number have studied in the United States following graduation from Tsinghua, and some are said to be influenced by the reform ideals of [[Hu Yaobang]]). In the PRC, their ascendance to power began in 2008 at the [[17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party]].<ref>{{Cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=7I0gRcqNoRgC&q=%22Qinghua+clique%22&pg=PA197|title=China's elite politics: political transition and power balancing|last=Bo|first=Zhiyue|year=2007|publisher=World Scientific|isbn=9789812700414|access-date=22 April 2012|archive-date=8 August 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220808200443/https://books.google.com/books?id=7I0gRcqNoRgC&q=%22Qinghua+clique%22&pg=PA197|url-status=live}}</ref>
