History

A post office called Eton has been in operation since 1906.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> The community's name most likely is a transfer from Eton College, in England.<ref>Template:Cite book</ref>

Geography

Eton is located north of the center of Murray County at Template:Coord (34.822554, -84.761826).<ref name="GR1">Template:Cite web</ref> U.S. Route 411 passes through the center of town, leading south Template:Convert to Chatsworth, the county seat, and north Template:Convert to Ocoee, Tennessee. Georgia State Route 286 leads west from Eton Template:Convert to Dawnville.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Eton has a total area of Template:Convert, all land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/> Mill Creek runs through the southern part of the town, flowing west toward the Conasauga River. Template:Convert Camp Ground Mountain rises above the town to the south.

As of the census<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 319 people, 123 households, and 93 families residing in the town. The population density was Template:Convert. There were 131 housing units at an average density of Template:Convert. The racial makeup of the town was 94.04% White, 0.31% Asian, 4.39% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.29% of the population.

There were 123 households, out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% were married couples living together, 15.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.6% were non-families. 18.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 2.87.

The population was spread out, with 24.8% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 34.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 84.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.0 males.

The median income for a household was $39,250, and the median income for a family was $46,389. Males had a median income of $31,625 versus $22,813 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,777. About 3.3% of families and 4.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 2.4% of those age 65 or over.
