History

The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Lone Oak as a town in 1901.<ref>Template:Cite web</ref> The town's name is descriptive of the original condition of the site.<ref>Template:Cite book</ref>

Geography

Lone Oak is located in northwest Meriwether County at Template:Coord (33.171862, −84.820113).<ref name="GR1">Template:Cite web</ref> Georgia State Route 54 passes through the town, leading northeast Template:Convert to Luthersville and west Template:Convert to Hogansville. Greenville, the Meriwether county seat, is Template:Convert to the southeast via Forrest Road.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of Template:Convert, all land.

Lone Oak Academy was built in 1870 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

As of the census<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 104 people, 44 households, and 31 families residing in the town. In 2020, its population was 114.

In 2000, the median income for a household in the town was $36,250, and the median income for a family was $39,167. Males had a median income of $24,500 versus $28,000 for females. The per capita income for the town was $15,602. None of the population and none of the families were below the poverty line.

Arts and culture
