Big River is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 1,084 at the 2020 census, down from 1,327 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Big River is located on the west bank of the Colorado River at Template:Coord (34.134021, -114.369782).<ref name="GR1">Template:Cite web</ref>

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of Template:Convert. Template:Convert of it is land and Template:Convert of it (4.60%) is water.

The 2020 United States census reported that Big River had a population of 1,084. The population density was Template:Convert. The racial makeup of Big River was 76.6% White, 0.9% African American, 7.1% Native American, 0.9% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 3.6% from other races, and 10.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.4% of the population.

The whole population lived in households. There were 550 households, out of which 14.4% included children under the age of 18, 34.7% were married-couple households, 8.7% were cohabiting couple households, 30.9% had a female householder with no partner present, and 25.6% had a male householder with no partner present. 40.4% of households were one person, and 23.6% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 1.97. There were 272 families (49.5% of all households).

The age distribution was 11.5% under the age of 18, 4.4% aged 18 to 24, 14.5% aged 25 to 44, 31.1% aged 45 to 64, and 38.5% who were 65Template:Nbspyears of age or older. The median age was 59.8Template:Nbspyears. For every 100 females, there were 101.5 males.
