Geography
[edit]The national park is immediately south of the town of Cooktown.<ref name="globe">Template:Queensland Globe</ref>
The terrain ranges from Template:Convert above sea level.<ref name="globe" /> The mountain Mount Cook is in the east of the national park (Template:Coord). Also known as Gore Mount, it rises Template:Convert above sea level, the highest point in the national park.<ref>Template:Cite QPN</ref><ref name="MountainPeaksCapes">Template:Cite web</ref>
It is Template:Convert north-west of Brisbane. It was established in 1970 and is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
Within this National Park is a difficult walking track that is Template:Convert return to the summit of Mount Cook.<ref name="qpws">Template:Cite web</ref>
