Wikiversity in korean
[edit]Can you please add the korean wikiversity to "In other languages". It was already approved.
The main page learning project was launched after the redesign of the main page in December 2007. The main page learning project has as its goal "the promotion of responsible involvement of the Wikiversity community in an efficient, productive, open and inclusive maintenance of the Wikiversity main page as a flagship of the activity and values of the Wikiversity community". If you would like to get involved in the design of the main page, this is where to go.
If you have general comments about the main page, but you don't especially want to get involved in the main page project, then you can also leave comments on the talk page for the main page learning project.
If you wish to post something below, go ahead. It's a talk page. But you are more likely to get a response by going to the Colloquium, which is where the main talking at Wikiversity goes on! See you there.
News or no news?
[edit]If there isn't a steady stream of news, that section might be better off away from the main page. And some other sort of content rotation would be welcome. Sj 05:18, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Page layout problem (Safari for mac)
[edit]Hey, I'm using Safari and there is a problem with the layout of the page. The "Help" section overlaps with the footer of the page where we see the wiki sister projects. That's probably a css error (something like a "clear:both" missing somewhere). If someone has the permission to fix this, please do so. Thanks!
I tested the page on firefox for mac and it loads correctly. Leadtimpani 15:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Operation system for phones. Wikiversity Building Tools: Smart phones/Touch screens--Gaon Abhinava 04:08, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
[edit]In my opinion, iOS is the best smart phone operating system because it offers elegance and simple lifestyle.
Use the Tools, Learn anywhere as long as you have a phone, grow your mind.... and help build Wikiversity.--Gaon Abhinava 04:08, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
sec link auto
[edit]i've noticed that (at least) the icon links to other wikimedia projects at the bottom of the Wikiversity main page are not {{sec link auto|...}} type links, so someone using the https version of the projects gets directed back to the http version. This is a bug IMHO. The w:Template:sec link auto and its subtemplates should be copied here - there should hopefully be some efficient sysadmin way of doing that instead of requiring editors to do it by hand - i hope... i seem to remember copying these by hand for Wikibooks... Boud 08:23, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- It seems to be me who already did copy the template and its dependencies here :P. E.g. Template:Sec link auto links to the Wikipedia Minkowski space article. What is missing is to actually use these... Boud 18:57, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
main page layout borked
[edit]The layout of the main page seems to have broken - there is extra whitespace at the top, the text of 'welcome to wikiversity' is wrapping, and the lower-right side of the there-column layout is overflowing onto the bottommost div. A recent change perhaps? viewed in chrome. –SJ+ 21:06, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Looks fine here, but I do believe the layout is fragile and can easily break across web browsers and window widths. I think the main page should be redesigned. -- darklama 12:50, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Youtube
[edit]Is it possible to add a link to a Youtube-movie? Which code should you use? Timboliu 11:50, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
- You may add a link to any external page, as long as it is not globally blacklisted. (If it's blacklisted, the link may be whitelisted here, any custodian can help with that.) As to the kind of Youtube links that display a video image, I don't know. To add a link to a page, you may copy the URL from your browser bar and place it. It will automatically display as a link, using the full URL. However, if you want it to display instead with some text, place it after an open bracket ("["), then add a space, the text you want, and then a close bracket. ("]"). For example,
- http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Main_Page
- displays as http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Main_Page
- [http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Main_Page]
- displays as [1]
- [http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Main_Page Our Main Page]
- displays as Our Main Page

Suggestion for additional school
[edit]Hi, I am Aries Eroles. I am a seafarer by profession. I noticed that there is no school for Maritime studies. Would I add a new page of it? Or is it included in other schools? Aries Eroles (talk) 14:48, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Aries - Welcome. I think you should feel to go ahead and create Maritime studies and/or School:Maritime studies and/or Topic:Maritime studies - start wherever you like. Sincerely, James -- Jtneill - Talk - c 15:18, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Blocked
[edit]- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text Template:Tlx on your user talk page.
- Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
