Woodlawn Cemetery was founded and deeded to the city by Mayor Juan José Carrillo in 1884.

Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary, formerly Ballona Cemetery, is located at 1847 14th Street, alongside Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, California, United States. History

Founded in 1897, the cemetery was first named the Ballona Township Cemetery as it was located on the Rancho La Ballona.<ref name=":0" /><ref>Template:Cite web</ref> In the 1980s, it began to be used as a filming location.<ref>Template:Cite news</ref> In the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the cemetery was damaged.<ref>Template:Cite news</ref>
