Most of the research I've been doing has been into local degree programs and how they would relate to online materials. I've been trying to find a means to obtain accreditation from local colleges or universities through independent online studies. Something akin to Excelsior portfolio based assessment. I've yet to find anything online on how a portfolio should be formatted and what information a portfolio should include. I've also yet to find out what institutions outside of Excelsior et al would allow such an assessment.

Hello all, it's great to finally have Wikiversity up and running! I'm so looking forward to working on this project - but am pretty busy over the next month with my dissertation (about Wikiversity ;-)). I'll be happy to answer any questions about the project - I've been pretty active in getting this project started. Looking forward to working with you! Cormaggio 08:19, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Bureaucrat

I was made an English Wikiversity bureaucrat as a temporary measure on the project's first day, and, at time of writing, still hold that (lonesome) position. If you need any assistance, leave me a message on my talk page. If it's a general custodian (ie "admin") query, you'd probably be better off with Wikiversity:Request custodian action, as I'm really not the most active custodian here.

Re: Degree programs

Most of the research I've been doing has been into local degree programs and how they would relate to online materials. I've been trying to find a means to obtain accreditation from local colleges or universities through independent online studies. Something akin to Excelsior portfolio based assessment. I've yet to find anything online on how a portfolio should be formatted and what information a portfolio should include. I've also yet to find out what institutions outside of Excelsior et al would allow such an assessment.

Some things I need to do..

  • Write research-related guidelines (eg. Wikiversity:Research and on Beta)
  • Help out on providing a comprehensive and easy-to-follow tutorial on what Wikiversity is, and how you can contribute and/or benefit from it.
  • Help in providing a framework for building Wikiversity, which I don't really think exists yet (so far, it's a bit piece-meal, and particular learning materials are connected with particular pedagogies, without making that explicit)
  • Work on Media literacy (and all my other interests), hopefully learning about what will work on Wikiversity through that process
  • Metadata - what's happening on that front, I wonder..?
