<languages /> Template:Project lists Template:Dirright <translate> [[<tvar name=1>Template:Wq-</tvar>|Wikisource]] is a Wikimedia project to build a library of free texts. Initially called "Project Sourceberg" when it began in 2003 (a play on the already existing non-Wikimedia project with similar goals, [[<tvar name=2>Template:Wq-</tvar>|Project Gutenberg]]), it branched into subdivisions for individual languages by 2005. Now Wikisource libraries house books, novels, essays, historical documents, poems, letters, speeches and other documents, so long as they can be made available under the CC-BY-SA open content license.

The Wikisource Logo changed during the history of the project. It was originally a .jpg image (as seen above), but is now an .svg image of the iceberg (as seen at top of this page).

An Alemannic Wikisource has been created as separate namespace within Alemannic Wikipedia: [[<tvar name="1">:als:Text:Houptsyte</tvar>|Alemannischi Textsammlig (Wikisource)]] and similarly, the North Frisian Wikipedia, the Bavarian Wikipedia, the Rhine Franconian Wikipedia, and the Pennsylvania Dutch Wikipedia have also adopted Wikisource projects in the Text namespace: [[<tvar name="2">:frr:Text:Hoodsid</tvar>|Nordfriisk Bibleteek]], [[<tvar name="3">:bar:Text:Start</tvar>|Boarische Text]], [[<tvar name="4">:pfl:Text:Hauptseite</tvar>|Rheifränggische Tegschdsommlung]], [[<tvar name="5">:pdc:Text:Haaptblatt</tvar>|Pennsylvanische Wikisource]].
