  • curprev 16:1116:11, 31 March 2025 imported>Caeciliusinhorto-public 9,593 bytes +9,593 Symbolism: the thyrsus and kantharos were both associated with Dionysus, but I am unable to find scholarship analysing that particular pairing of attributes as male/female (and indeed the thrysus=masculine/kantharos=feminine symbolism doesn't seem to make much sense in a greek context where the phallic thyrsus was often associated with maenads while the yonic kantharos is linked to wine consumption and thus a masculine object)
