==Geography==

Woodland is located in the northeastern corner of Barry County. It is a small agricultural town that also serves as a bedroom community for the [[Lansing, Michigan|Lansing]] and [[Grand Rapids, Michigan|Grand Rapids]] areas. The village has its own local government and an elementary school.

Woodland was first settled in 1837 by Charles and Jonathan Galloway, along with Charles Haight. Both the village and the township were named after the dense forests in the area. The arrival of the [[Chicago, Kalamazoo and Saginaw Railway]] in 1889 spurred growth, leading to its incorporation as a village in 1892.

The racial makeup of the village was 96.9% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.2% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.2% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.9% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.7% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race made up 3.8% of the population.
