According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the township has a total area of {{convert|25.6|sqmi|km2}}, of which {{convert|19.4|sqmi|km2}} is land and {{convert|6.3|sqmi|km2}} (24.52%) is water.

==Demographics==
As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 749 people, 309 households, and 231 families residing in the township.  The population density was {{convert|38.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 368 housing units at an average density of 19.0 per square mile (7.3/km{{sup|2}}).  The racial makeup of the township was 97.20% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.13% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.67% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.13% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.13% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.53% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.20% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 3.07% of the population.

There were 309 households, out of which 24.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% were non-families. 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.80.

In the township the population was spread out, with 19.8% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 31.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females, there were 109.8 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.1 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $35,250, and the median income for a family was $47,625. Males had a median income of $39,375 versus $25,625 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the township was $20,153.  About 10.6% of families and 13.0% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 17.6% of those under age 18 and 4.7% of those age 65 or over.
