Whiteland is located in north/central Johnson County approximately {{convert|19|mi|km}} south of [[Indianapolis]] in [[Johnson County, Indiana|Johnson County]], which is one of the counties circling the capital city itself and therefore considered part of the [[Indianapolis-Carmel, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area|Indianapolis metropolitan area]]. Major access roads to get to Whiteland are [[Interstate 65 in Indiana|I-65]] (exit 95 is the Whiteland exit), south on [[U.S. Route 31 in Indiana|U.S. 31]] from Indianapolis and north from [[Columbus, Indiana|Columbus]].

The racial makeup of the town was 97.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.4% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.2% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.7% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.1% [[Race (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.6% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.1% from two or more races. The median income for a household in the town was $56,944, and the median income for a family was $61,810. Males had a median income of $42,247 versus $29,005 for females.
