==Geography==
West Point is located along the eastern shoreline of the [[Great Salt Lake]], and an extensive network of [[wetland]]s is strung along the western boundaries. These areas are essential to migrating birds.

The cities of [[Clinton, Utah|Clinton]] and [[Hooper, Utah|Hooper]] are located to the north, [[Clearfield, Utah|Clearfield]] is to the east, and the city of [[Syracuse, Utah|Syracuse]] is to the south.

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the city has a total area of {{convert|19.0|sqkm|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|18.9|sqkm|order=flip}} is land and {{convert|0.1|sqkm|order=flip|2}}, or 0.55%, is water.<ref name="Census 2010"/> The official annexation policy plan of the city would allow for the city to add a few more square miles to its territory. This area is located in the northwest corner of Davis County and is currently unincorporated.

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 6,033 people, 1,645 households, and 1,495 families residing in the city. The [[population density]] was 840.2 people per square mile (324.4/km<sup>2</sup>). There were 1,699 housing units at an average density of 236.6 per square mile (91.4/km<sup>2</sup>). The racial makeup of the city was 94.73% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.41% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.53% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.01% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.03% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.56% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.72% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 4.03% of the population.

There were 1,645 households, out of which 58.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 82.2% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.1% were non-families. 7.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.67 and the average family size was 3.86.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 38.3% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 17.0% from 45 to 64, and 4.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 27 years. For every 100 females, there were 103.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $56,985, and the median income for a family was $58,869. Males had a median income of $40,770 versus $26,343 for females. About 2.9% of families and 3.9% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 5.5% of those under age 18 and 2.7% of those age 65 or over.
