The community of [[Peach Creek, West Virginia|Peach Creek]] lies across the river to the northeast, and the community of [[Aracoma, West Virginia|Aracoma]] lies to the southwest.

[[West Virginia Route 10]] (2nd Avenue) traverses West Logan, connecting the town with [[Logan, West Virginia|Logan]] to the southeast and [[Mitchell Heights, West Virginia|Mitchell Heights]] and [[Chapmanville, West Virginia|Chapmanville]] to the north. A bridge along Old Guyan River Road crosses the Guyandotte River and provides access to the Peach Creek area.

The [[population density]] was {{convert|1247.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 221 housing units at an average density of {{convert|650.0|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the town was 97.4% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.2% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.9% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 1.4% from two or more races.

There were 188 households, of which 27.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 14.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 42.0% were non-families. 38.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.99.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.13% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.67% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.72% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.24% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.24% from two or more races.

There were 186 households, out of which 21.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.7% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 30.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.82.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 20.6% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 22.2% from 25 to 44, 27.5% from 45 to 64, and 24.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
