Settlers at West Harrison found numerous [[tumulus|mounds]] constructed by Indians. West Harrison is located just across the Indiana state line from Harrison, Ohio. The two towns are divided by State Street.

The [[population density]] was {{convert|1313.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 174 housing units at an average density of {{convert|790.9|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the town was 99.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.3% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.3% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 0.3% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]]. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.3% of the population.
