The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.95. The age distribution was 23.9% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 17.4% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 28.0% 65 or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males. The median household income was $27,045 and the median family income was $30,071. Wellton is becoming a popular retirement destination. The town currently operates two 18-hole golf courses that are a magnet for winter visitors.
