==History==
The first settlers who arrived in 1802 were Swiss immigrants intending on cultivating grapes and producing wine. When Switzerland County was formed in 1814, Vevay was made the county seat.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.1% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.5% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.5% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.7% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.2% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.1% of the population.
