The band have undergone multiple line-up changes since their formation, all of which have been arranged and designated by Scannell. Vertical Horizon are best known for their 1999 single "[[Everything You Want (Vertical Horizon song)|Everything You Want]]", which [[List of Billboard Hot 100 number ones of 2000|peaked atop the ''Billboard'' Hot 100]] and preceded [[Everything You Want (Vertical Horizon album)|their third studio album of the same name]] (1999).
