The [[2010 United States census]] counted 7,660 people, 2,866 households, and 2,104 families in the township. The population density was {{convert|246.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 3,025 housing units at an average density of {{convert|97.3|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup was 74.67% (5,720) [[White (U.S. census)|White]], 12.96% (993) [[Black (U.S. census)|Black or African American]], 1.27% (97) [[Native American (U.S. census)|Native American]], 2.65% (203) [[Asian (U.S. census)|Asian]], 0.00% (0) [[Pacific Islander (U.S. census)|Pacific Islander]], 5.38% (412) from [[Race and ethnicity in the United States census#Race|other races]], and 3.07% (235) from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. census)|Hispanic or Latino]] of any race were 9.43% (722) of the population.<ref name=Census2010/>

Of the 2,866 households, 28.4% had children under the age of 18; 53.9% were married couples living together; 15.3% had a female householder with no husband present and 26.6% were non-families. Of all households, 22.1% were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.08.<ref name=Census2010/>

23.5% of the population were under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 28.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41.2 years. For every 100 females, the population had 93.0 males. For every 100 females ages 18 and older there were 89.6 males.<ref name=Census2010/>

The Census Bureau's 2006–2010 [[American Community Survey]] showed that (in 2010 [[inflation adjustment|inflation-adjusted]] dollars) [[median household income]] was $53,646 (with a margin of error of +/− $6,771) and the median family income was $61,974 (+/− $9,964). Males had a median income of $45,532 (+/− $5,633) versus $36,741 (+/− $10,855) for females. The [[per capita income]] for the borough was $26,033 (+/− $2,581). The racial makeup of the township was 75.77% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 16.41% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.81% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 3.06% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.01% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.83% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.12% from two or more races. There were 2,757 households, out of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 15.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.9% were non-families. 20.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.12.<ref name=Census2000/><ref name=Census2000SF1/>

In the township the population was spread out, with 27.8% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.1 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males.<ref name=Census2000/><ref name=Census2000SF1/>

The median income for a household in the township was $47,861, and the median income for a family was $51,472. Males had a median income of $37,064 versus $23,719 for females.
