Archeological work has revealed Native American presence dating back at least 5,000 years. In fact, Uintah is named after the Weber Ute Band of [[Shoshone]] Indians which occupied the area at the time of white settlement. The city was established in 1850. {{US Census population |align=left |1880= 247 |1890= 228 |1900= 302 |1910= 178 |1920= 310 |1930= 304 |1940= 264 |1950= 317 |1960= 344 |1970= 400 |1980= 439 |1990= 760 |2000= 1127 |2010= 1322 |estyear= |estimate= |estref= |footnote=U.S. Decennial Census<ref name="DecennialCensus">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census.html|title=Census of Population and Housing|publisher=Census.gov|access-date=June 4, 2015}}</ref> |2020=1454}} ==Demographics== As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 1,127 people, 365 households, and 290 families residing in the town.
