[[The Hammocks, Florida|The Hammocks]] touches the northwest corner of Three Lakes, and [[Palmetto Estates, Florida|Palmetto Estates]] touches the southeast corner.

The population density was {{convert|2,131.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 2,627 housing units at an average density of {{convert|805.1|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. In 2000, in the CDP, the population was spread out, with 28.3% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 40.8% from 25 to 44, 16.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.4% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females, there were 90.4 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.5 males.

In 2000, the median income for a household in the CDP was $54,830, and the median income for a family was $58,424. Males had a median income of $37,194 versus $30,481 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the CDP was $22,832.  About 6.7% of families and 8.0% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 8.0% of those under age 18 and 13.8% of those age 65 or over.
