Terrebonne is located in northeastern Deschutes County along [[U.S. Route 97]]. It is {{convert|6|mi|0}} north of [[Redmond, Oregon|Redmond]], {{Convert|24|mi}} north of [[Bend, Oregon|Bend]], the [[county seat]], and {{convert|20|mi}} south of [[Madras, Oregon|Madras]]. According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the CDP has a total area of {{convert|2.6|sqkm|order=flip}}, all land,<ref name="Census 2010"/> a reduction from {{convert|4.5|sqmi|km2}} at the 2000 census.

This region experiences warm (but not hot) and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6&nbsp;°F. As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 1,469 people, 531 households, and 409 families residing in the CDP. The population density was {{convert|325.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 561 housing units at an average density of {{convert|124.2|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the CDP was 94.49% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.07% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.95% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.14% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 2.18% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.18% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 4.56% of the population.
