==Geography==

The population density was {{convert|161.9|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 517 housing units at an average density of {{convert|70.6|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census#2000 census|racial makeup]] of the town was 96.37% White, 0.08% Black or African American, 1.18% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.51% from other races, and 1.77% from two or more races. 0.67% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.<ref name="GR2">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=January 31, 2008|title=U.S. Census website}}</ref>

As of the [[2020 United States census]], there were 1,790 people, 829 households, and 648 families residing in the town.

==Education==
* Sylvania High School, a member of the [[DeKalb County School System (Alabama)|DeKalb County School System]]. Their mascot is “The Rams”, with gold and green as their school colors. The current Principal is Heath Kirby.
