According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of 46.9&nbsp;square miles (121.5&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>), of which 46.4&nbsp;square miles (120.1&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>) is land and 0.5&nbsp;square mile (1.4&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>) (1.15%) is water. [[Stratton Mountain (Vermont)|Stratton Mountain]] is the high point of the town. [[Stratton Mountain Resort]] is at the northern end of the mountain. The community of [[Stratton Mountain, Vermont|Stratton Mountain]] comprises the base of the resort as well as residential development to the north in the town of [[Winhall, Vermont|Winhall]].

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 216 people, 60 households, and 36 families residing in the town. The [[population density]] was 2.9 people per square mile (1.1/km<sup>2</sup>). There were 1,091 housing units at an average density of 23.5 per square mile (9.1/km<sup>2</sup>). The racial makeup of the town was 98.53% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], and 1.47% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.94% of the population.

There were 60 households, out of which 26.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 1.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 21.3% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females, there were 106.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.0 males.
