Stratton gained international attention in 2002 when it lost before the [[United States Supreme Court]] in the matter of [[Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, Inc. v. The racial makeup of the village was 99.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 1.0% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.4% of the population.

There were 145 households, of which 24.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.6% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 47.6% were non-families. 45.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 19.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.03 and the average family size was 2.87.

[[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.36% of the population.

A major local employer was the [[W. H. Sammis Power Plant]], a 2.23-gigawatt (2,233 [[megawatt|MW]]) [[Fossil fuel power station#Coal|coal power plant]] along the Ohio River.
