==History==
Stoddard was founded as a farming community. It is notable as one of the few communities along the [[Mississippi River]] that was never a trading post or a riverboat stop. The [[population density]] was {{convert|1121.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 388 housing units at an average density of {{convert|562.3|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 98.7% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.6% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.1% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.1% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.3% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.8% of the population.

The racial makeup of the village was 99.14% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.12% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.12% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.61% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.12% of the population.

There were 351 households, out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.6% were non-families. 28.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The median income for a household in the village was $31,250, and the median income for a family was $39,250. Males had a median income of $30,972 versus $21,319 for females. St. Matthew's Lutheran School is a grade school of the [[Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod]] in Stoddard. Families from the church as well as from throughout the community attend. The school has four teachers, two pastors and four classrooms. St. Matthew's Preschool Program is available for children ages 3 and 4. The rest of the school serves grades K-8.
