It is located at the northeast edge of [[Shawnee National Forest]].

==History==

As of the 2020 census, there were 1,054 people, 505 households, and 490 families residing in the city. The racial makeup of the city was 92.13% [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|White]], 1.14% [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|African American]], 0.48% [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|Native American]], 1.24% from [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|other races]], and 4.46% from two or more races. [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|Hispanic]] or [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|Latino]] of any race were 2.19% of the population.

There were 505 households, out of which 21.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.4% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 46.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.8% were non-families. 60% of all households were made up of individuals, and 21.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
