Sadler is located in western Grayson County. The [[U.S. Route 82 in Texas|U.S. Route 82]] freeway runs through the southern part of the city, leading east {{convert|17|mi}} to [[Sherman, Texas|Sherman]], the [[county seat]], and west {{convert|5|mi|0}} to [[Whitesboro, Texas|Whitesboro]].

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 404 people, 167 households, and 112 families residing in the city. The population density was {{convert|673.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 177 housing units at an average density of {{convert|295.0|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the city was 98.76% [[White (U.S. census)|White]], 0.25% [[African American (U.S. census)|African American]] and 0.99% [[Native American (U.S. census)|Native American]]. [[Hispanic (U.S. census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.99% of the population.

There were 167 households, of which 29.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 3.04.

Of the city's population, 25.7% were under the age of 18, 7.4% aged between 18 and 24, 25.5% between 25 and 44, 26.2% between 45 and 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. The median age was 38.
