==Geography==
The town is concentrated around the intersection of the [[U.S. Route 64 in North Carolina|U.S. Route 64]] and [[Special routes of U.S. Route 74#Asheville–Forest City alternate route|U.S. Route 74A]]. Ruth lies immediately northeast of [[Rutherfordton, North Carolina|Rutherfordton]] and northwest of [[Spindale, North Carolina|Spindale]].

The racial makeup of the town was 92.10% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 6.38% [[African American (U.S. Census)|Black]] or [[Race (United States Census)|African American]], 0.61% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], no [[Asia]]n or [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.61% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.30% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.22% of the population.
