As of the [[2020 United States census]], there were 548 people, 238 households, and 164 families residing in the city. As of the [[census]] of 2000, there were 694 people, 280 households, and 190 families residing in the city.<ref name="GR2" /> The population density was {{convert|797.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 326 housing units at an average density of {{convert|374.5|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the city was 74.78% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 21.33% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.73% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.15% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.01% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.59% of the population.

There were 280 households, out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 16.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% were non-families. 29.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
