Some of the international peace garden is located along the north-west of the county, and about 14 miles (22 km) North of the city of Dunseith among the highway US-281 and ND-3. ==History== The [[Dakota Territory]] legislature created the county on January 4, 1873, with territory partitioned from [[Buffalo County, South Dakota|Buffalo County]]. It was not organized at that date, and was not attached to another county for judicial or administrative purposes.
