About 14.3% of families and 20.4% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 27.0% of those under age 18 and 20.7% of those age 65 or over. == 2012 mayoral scandal == The mayor of River Falls, Mary Ella Hixon, age 91, was accused in theft of $201,600 of public funds, during her mayorship.
