Richards is located on [[Missouri Route H]]. [[Stotesbury, Missouri|Stotesbury]] is approximately four miles to the north via [[Missouri Route Z]] and [[Nevada, Missouri|Nevada]] is eleven miles to the southeast. The [[population density]] was {{convert|355.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 44 housing units at an average density of {{convert|163.0|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 95.8% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 4.2% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.0% of the population.

There were 36 households, of which 38.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 19.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 25.0% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.11.

The racial makeup of the town was 96.84% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], and 3.16% from two or more races.

There were 37 households, out of which 37.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 2.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 29.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.16.

In the town the population was spread out, with 29.5% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 109.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $35,938, and the median income for a family was $44,583. Males had a median income of $26,875 versus $25,833 for females.
