The town’s name originates from its time as a once bustling railroad community known as “Reeves Station.” In 1832, the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Company constructed a rail line through the region connecting Reeves Station to Charleston. The town is named for local farmer, David D. Reeves, who supplied wood as a source of fuel to the first locomotives to pass through the area. The Reeves name is associated with the area early as 1759 and is later noted in Robert Mills Atlas of South Carolina published in 1851. ==Demographics== {{US Census population |1890= 109 |1900= 137 |1910= 205 |1920= 200 |1930= 181 |1940= 217 |1950= 285 |1960= 268 |1970= 247 |1980= 241 |1990= 244 |2000= 207 |2010= 196 |2020= 201 |align-fn=center |footnote=[https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census.html U.S. Decennial Census]<ref name="USCensusDecennial2020CenPopScriptOnly">{{cite web|url=https://api.census.gov/data/2020/dec/pl?get=P1_001N,NAME&for=place:*&in=state:45&key=5ccd0821c15d9f4520e2dcc0f8d92b2ec9336108|title=Census Population API|publisher=United States Census Bureau|accessdate=October 15, 2022}}</ref> }} As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 207 people, 90 households, and 62 families residing in the town.
