==History==
The community building, still in use, was dedicated in 1960. Ray Ellis was mayor at that time. The Frisco Railroad was bought out by, and merged with, the Burlington-Northern Railroad in 1980.

==Geography==
Ravenden is located in the northwest corner of Lawrence County at {{coord|36|14|2|N|91|15|7|W|type:city}} (36.233972, -91.251911).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> U.S. Highways [[U.S. Route 62|62]], [[U.S. Route 63|63]], and [[U.S. Route 412|412]] run concurrently through the north side of the town, leading northwest {{convert|16|mi}} to [[Hardy, Arkansas|Hardy]] and southeast {{convert|5|mi|0}} to [[Imboden, Arkansas|Imboden]]. [[Arkansas Highway 90]] leads north from Ravenden {{convert|6|mi|0}} to [[Ravenden Springs, Arkansas|Ravenden Springs]].

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town of Ravenden has a total area of {{convert|5.5|km2|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|0.03|km2|order=flip|2}}, or 0.58%, are water.<ref name="Census 2010"/> The Spring River, a southeast-flowing tributary of the [[Black River (Arkansas–Missouri)|Black River]], flows through the southern part of the town.

The population density was {{convert|246.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 254 housing units at an average density of {{convert|122.6|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the town was 97.26% [[Race (United States Census)|White]], 1.76% [[Race (United States Census)|Native American]], 0.59% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.39% from two or more races.  1.37% of the population were [[Race (United States Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Race (United States Census)|Latino]] of any race.

There were 209 households, out of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% were non-families. 26.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.97.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 27.6% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.7 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $25,625, and the median income for a family was $29,896. Males had a median income of $23,281 versus $14,444 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the town was $10,723.  About 19.5% of families and 28.4% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 48.6% of those under age 18 and 15.1% of those age 65 or over.
