==Geography==
Plato lies one half mile north of [[U.S. Route 212 in Minnesota|U.S. Highway 212]] on a county road between [[Glencoe, Minnesota|Glencoe]], the McLeod [[county seat]], {{convert|5|mi|0}} to the west, and [[Norwood Young America, Minnesota|Norwood Young America]] {{convert|6|mi|0}} to the east. Downtown [[Minneapolis]] is {{convert|48|mi}} to the east.

The racial makeup of the city was 98.81% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.60% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.60% from two or more races.

There were 144 households, of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 22.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.76.

22.6% of the population were under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.
