As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 520 people, 206 households, and 142 families residing in the town. The population density was {{convert|1,112.5|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 233 housing units at an average density of {{convert|497.5|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the town was 62.96% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 25.91% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 13.63% [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]], 0.19% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.77% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 9.98% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.19% from two or more races.

There were 206 households, out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 18.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% were non-families. 26.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
