==History==
It was settled in the 1920s or 1930s by [[sharecroppers]]. The community was flooded in May 2011 when the [[U.S. Army Corps of Engineers]] breached the Bird's Point Levee to save the town of [[Cairo, Illinois]]. The government did not assist or provide help to evacuate Pinhook. The racial makeup of the village was 3.33% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 96.67% [[Black (U.S. Census)|Black]] or [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]].

The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.87.
