'''Patton''' is a borough in [[Cambria County, Pennsylvania|Cambria County]], [[Pennsylvania]], United States. It is {{convert|19|mi}} northwest of [[Altoona, Pennsylvania|Altoona]], in an agricultural region. It is part of the [[Johnstown, Pennsylvania]] [[Metropolitan Statistical Area]]. The population was 1,728 at the [[2020 United States census|2020 census]].

Patton's economy was formerly centered around the [[Patton Clay Manufacturing Company]]. The factory was one of the largest clay and brick concerns in the world in the first half of the 1900s. The company manufactured [[terra cotta]] products (pipe and tiles), building bricks, and [[paver (flooring)|pavers]] (known as "Patton Pavers") from 1893 until it closed in 1968. Bricks made there were used in the construction of the [[Panama Canal]], and the pavers were used around the [[Eiffel Tower]] in France. The products were made from clay excavated from the area.

Due to the closure of the Clay Works, Patton's economy and population declined.

The [[Patton Historic District]] was listed on the [[National Register of Historic Places]] in 1996.<ref name="nris">{{NRISref|version=2010a}}</ref>

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 2,023 people, 886 households, and 539 families residing in the borough. The [[population density]] was {{convert|2,033.3|/sqmi|/km2|disp=preunit|people&nbsp;|people|abbr=out}}. There were 980 housing units at an average density of {{convert|985.0|/sqmi|/km2|abbr=out}}. The racial makeup of the borough was 99.80% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.05% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 0.15% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.05% of the population.

There were 886 households, out of which 24.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% were non-families. 36.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 19.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the borough the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.9 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $22,546, and the median income for a family was $35,473. Males had a median income of $26,940 versus $16,875 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the borough was $13,851. About 11.5% of families and 14.2% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 11.0% of those under age 18 and 12.0% of those age 65 or over.
