==Geography==
Palisade lies on the north side of the [[Colorado River]], {{convert|11|mi|0}} east of [[Grand Junction, Colorado|Grand Junction]], the [[county seat]]. [[U.S. Route 6]] passes through the town as 8th Street, while [[Interstate 70]] runs along the northern border of the town at the foot of the cliffs to the north, with access to the town from Exit 42.

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|1.2|sqmi|km2}}, of which {{convert|0.006|sqmi|km2|3}}, or 0.50%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>

The population density was {{convert|2,399.5|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 1,117 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1,039.3|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}. The racial makeup of the town was 93.91% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.19% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.05% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.50% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.27% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.36% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.71% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 6.24% of the population.

There were 1,051 households, out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.4% were non-families. 29.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 24.3% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $27,739, and the median income for a family was $31,797. Males had a median income of $28,231 versus $21,875 for females. Palisade has one high school, [[Palisade High School]]. It also has one elementary school, Taylor Elementary. Mount Garfield Middle School is located on the border of [[Clifton, Colorado|Clifton]] and Palisade.
