Palestine was platted by Samuel Loring in 1833. The [[population density]] was {{convert|1333.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 89 housing units at an average density of {{convert|593.3|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 93.5% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 5.0% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], and 1.5% from two or more races.

There were 79 households, of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.1% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.6% were non-families. 29.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.07.

The median age in the village was 33.5 years. 30% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.5% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.5% were from 25 to 44; 23% were from 45 to 64; and 16% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 50.0% male and 50.0% female.

The racial makeup of the village was 94.71% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 5.29% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]].

There were 57 households, out of which 50.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.9% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.3% were non-families. 14.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.98 and the average family size was 3.26.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 31.2% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 34.7% from 25 to 44, 8.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.3 males.
