The population was  947  at the [[2020 United States census|2020 census]], the community became a city in February 2001.<ref>[https://web.archive.org/web/20060206063031/http://www.census.gov/popest/geographic/boundary_changes/index.html Population Estimates Boundary Changes], [[United States Census Bureau]], July 1, 2007.  Accessed 2008-11-06.</ref>   The City of Orlinda conducted its own, independent census 2007. The results of that census were submitted to the State of Tennessee, which conducted a review and random sample before officially certifying the results, which it did in May 2007.

The Mayor of Orlinda is Tabitha Swearingen and the City Manager is Kevin Breeding.

==History==
Orlinda was incorporated in 1965, and was originally called Crockers Crossroads until they had to change the name due to the area's proximity to [[Tuckers Crossroads, Tennessee]]. In October 2000, the Orlinda City Hall and Post Office opened at its present-day location on [[Tennessee State Route 52|Highway 52]]. As of the [[2020 United States census]], there were 947 people, 345 households, and 256 families residing in the city.

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 594 people, 235 households, and 176 families residing in the town. The population density was {{convert|89.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 264 housing units at an average density of {{convert|39.6|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the town was 95.29% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 4.04% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.17% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.51% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.67% of the population.

There were 235 households, out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.3% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 23.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the town the population was spread out, with 23.6% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $45,000, and the median income for a family was $53,625. Males had a median income of $33,750 versus $20,341 for females.
