[[South Carolina Highway 341]] leads northwest from Olanta {{convert|13|mi}} to [[Lynchburg, South Carolina|Lynchburg]] and southeast 13 miles to [[Lake City, South Carolina|Lake City]]. The racial makeup of the town was 61.34% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 37.52% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.98% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.16% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.14% of the population.
