Oakville is 18 miles south of the city of [[St. Louis, Missouri|St. Louis]] and borders the [[Mississippi River|Mississippi]] and [[Meramec River|Meramec]] rivers; the area is part of "South County" (south St. Louis County).

The [[population density]] was {{convert|2268.9|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 14,314 housing units at an average density of {{convert|898.6|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.8% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.8% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.3% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.0% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.4% of the population.

The median age in the CDP was 43.7 years. 22.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 21.1% were from 25 to 44; 33.9% were from 45 to 64; and 14.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the CDP was 49.0% male and 51.0% female.

Oakville belongs entirely to the [[Mehlville School District]] (R-9) and the St. Louis County Special School District. [[Oakville High School]] and [[Mehlville High School]] are the two high schools in the Mehlville School District, but only [[Oakville High School]] is located in the Oakville area.
