The [[population density]] was {{convert|619.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 160 housing units at an average density of {{convert|307.7|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 95.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.2% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.9% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.9% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.9% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 5.3% of the population.

There were 134 households, of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 15.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.7% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.1% were non-families. 28.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.87.

The median age in the village was 43.5 years. 22.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 21.8% were from 25 to 44; 29.2% were from 45 to 64; and 19.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 49.1% male and 50.9% female.

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 345 people, 140 households, and 97 families residing in the village. The population density was {{convert|664.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 163 housing units at an average density of {{convert|313.9|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the village was 98.84% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.87% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.29% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]]. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.58% of the population.

There were 140 households, out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.97.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.4% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males.

As of 2000 the median income for a household in the village was $27,500, and the median income for a family was $30,139. Males had a median income of $22,917 versus $20,469 for females. About 9.3% of families and 13.9% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 28.6% of those under age 18 and 6.3% of those age 65 or over.

==1999 snakes incident==
