Norwich was laid out in 1827, and named after [[Norwich]], in England, the native home of a first settler.<ref name="Everhart 418">{{cite book|last=Everhart |first=F.J.|title=1794. The [[population density]] was {{convert|1020.0|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 56 housing units at an average density of {{convert|560.0|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 100.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]].

There were 49 households, of which 20.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 8.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.6% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.08 and the average family size was 2.41.

There were 40 households, out of which 40.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 2.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.13.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.3% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 35.4% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
