As of the census<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 21,161 people, 7,031 households, and 5,744 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,539.6 people per square mile (594.6/km<sup>2</sup>). There were 7,186 housing units at an average density of 522.8/sq&nbsp;mi (201.9/km<sup>2</sup>). The racial makeup of the CDP was 89.84% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.71% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.27% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 3.35% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.17% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.75% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.92% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 4.60% of the population.

There were 7,031 households, out of which 44.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.2% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.3% were non-families. 13.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.01 and the average family size was 3.27.
